Sam ~ Family - Card #2

“What if I were gay?” you say.

“Samantha, this is not something to joke about,” your mother says.

“I’m not joking.”

You look directly at your father.

“Homosexuality is a sin.” Your father squeezes your chin in his hand. “And it’s unnatural. You can’t always control what you think, but you can control your actions. If you can’t control your actions, you’re not my daughter anymore.”

“Mike, calm down.”

“Don’t tell me what to do. I’m dead serious.”

“Let’s just all get some rest and discuss this again tomorrow,” your mother says, guiding your father out of your room.

You feel completely alone. There won’t ever be a right time to tell them who you really are.

The next morning you get ready for school like any other day. But you start thinking about leaving home. You have to be true to yourself.
