My name is Natasha Washington and I’ll be 41 next month. I’m an attorney and for the past nine years I’ve worked in trust and estates. I love my job, but sometimes it’s hard being the only African-American partner in my firm.
I met Curtis 13 years ago when I was still in law school. He came to talk to the African American law students, and it was like he put us under a spell or something. All the women fell in love with him. You need to understand the man was a sight to behold. He put himself through law school doing commercials and modeling for catalogs. And he’s brilliant. He was the first black man to make partner in his firm – and we’re talking over a decade ago. When he asked me out to dinner, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
The problems began later.
