Domestic Violence is Serious!
Many survivors face the escalating safety threats long before they reach out for help.
Survivors often face more violence and abuse than their loved ones may know. By the time a survivor reaches out for help, they have likely already endured serious harm by their abusive partner.
Domestic Violence is More Common Than You Think!
-
1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.*
There are many survivors living in our communities, whether we know it or not. Despite the prevalence, many survivors feel alone in their experience. It can be hard to know who to trust and who will be helpful when they are ready to reach out.
