Message from the Executive Director regarding COVID-19

Domestic Violence Services, Inc, serves people in crisis due to domestic and sexual violence. This vulnerable population always deserves safety and care including the current situation as we face a deadly virus.

Survivors are encouraged to continue to call our crisis line for help when they are victimized (800-833-1161). We will provide basic screening related to COVID-19 to all new clients who are seeking services.

We may have to limit the total number of survivors we can shelter to accommodate the distancing requirement.

We have not had a case of Covid-19 come to our attention, but we will monitor developments related to this virus carefully and we will take action based on recommendations from health authorities.

For our clients at Advocacy Centers and shelters, we have implemented a social distancing plan to protect the health of staff and clients. We will encourage our clients to wash hands frequently and to monitor their health. We are asking them to contact their doctor if they feel ill. If someone is diagnosed with COVID-19, alternatives to shelter may be explored during this crisis.

We will not allow visitors at DVS sites as of March 17, 2020. Community partners who are collaborating on behalf of a survivor should call our administrative number in Pendleton (541-276-3322) or the Advocacy Center in Hermiston (541-567-0424) to discuss options. We can communicate electronically or by phone.  Documents can be sent electronically.

These restrictions will continue until we are informed by the Oregon Health Authority that the situation is sufficiently improved to resume normal operations.
